Belle, Oh Belle.

"Temp Nouveau" Plaza Watch Magazine

Plaza Watch magazine's "Temp Nouveau" features exquisite watches and jewelry while incorporating the ornate and floral stylings of the turn of the century Art Nouveau posters . The editorial features a write up on the father of the Art Nouveau style, Alphonse Mucha's (1860-1939) 150th birthday is celebrated this year, along with luxury watchmakers Tag Heuer,  Chopard and Panerai.

Art Nouveau took its inspiration from nature and artistic sources like Byzantine art, Japanese woodblocks, the Arts and Crafts movement and Pre-Raphaelite painting. Alphonse Mucha, a Czech artist working in Paris, was called on to make a poster for Sandra Bernhardt, an actress that had taken the town by storm. His poster was the first production of the poster craze or Belle Epoque, which carried itself throughout Europe and the United States. The stylish romantic images' influence was also carried through into architecture, furniture, graphic, and commercial designs.

Here it is recreated utilizing modern photography techniques with illustrative composition. Pretty.

I especially like the white eyelashes and the color palette used on the eyes. The makeup was done by Uli Wissel for Uschi Rabe. View the rest of the set shot by Mierswa-Kluska.
